Splish splash in your mountain summer

Your bathing holiday with action in Tyrol

Water fun in the Ötztal

Water is a must have on a summer holiday and there is plenty of it in the Ötztal. You can enjoy time in the water here not only during quiet and enjoyable moments by the lake, but there are great spots for your adrenaline kick.

In Area 47 or on the Stuibenfall via ferrata, you can set yourself a challenge and experience the moments of success close to the water. And in our theme or the two bathing lakes, relaxing fans will get their money’s worth. Well then – let’s take that cold plunge into the water.

“Water is the driving force of nature.” – Leonardo da Vinci

The nearness to the water
always brings mediterranean flair – whether in the mountains or by the sea.

This is your home at the Gasthof Stuibenfall.

In the element water

Stuibenfall

A whirling, rolling and swirling, an irrepressible force that drushes the rocks.

When, after dozens of meters in free fall, around 600 liters per second and sometimes up to 2,000 hit bare rock, water acts like an angry element. And yet something reassuring and familiar resonates in the roaring – captivating and fascinating. Of all the bodies of water, a waterfall is probably the most captivating. Especially such a magnificent one, as it falls over the cliff of the Tauferberg here. His waving water flags, the dust – in Ötztal dialect the Stuiben – gave him his name. Apt and worthy for Tyrol’s largest waterfall, which descends 159 metres over two steep steps.

The creative power and excessive energy of the water in its charming interaction with the mostly tranquil surroundings, i.e. the enchanting natural spectacle, is not the only thing that rewards and inspires a visit to the Stuibenfall. It has been scientifically proven that the negatively charged oxygen molecules rising in Aberzahl at waterfalls stimulate the immune system, strengthen the cleansing effect of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract and thus counteract asthma. It may be due to the fact that the breasts seem to widen when you linger at the edge of the Stuibenfall and occasionally a pleasant shiver rises.

Umhausen Stuibenfall

The steel construction with its 720 steps and the 80 metre long suspension bridge provides an exciting contrast to the unspoilt landscape and the natural force of the water.

Whether along the Stuibenfall up or down: The unique experience of this hike is recommended for everyone. The same goes for the via ferrata, of course.

Piburger See

If you look, you will find hidden spots on the partly steeply sloping shores. The hiking trail around the lake also offers romance and enchanting impressions.

Lake Piburger See

Deep blue with emarald green edges

The Lake Piburg See, is surrounded by forests and reflects the neighbouring mountains. Due to its scenic location, it was declared a natural monument as early as 1929 and is one of the oldest nature reserves in Tyrol. The jewel was created by a huge landslide that blocked the depression at the south-eastern end. Due to the crystal rock, the mountain lake has very soft water. With an area of 14 ha and a maximum depth of 25 m, it is one of the largest mountain bathing lakes in Tyrol, and despite 915 metres in altitude, it is also one of the warmest (up to 24°) and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful.

For generations, swimmers and hikers have made a pilgrimage to Lake Piburg See and enjoyed the idyll. At the southern end, a bathing complex with a lake restaurant and terrace offers otherwise rare sunbathing areas and has a raft facility with boat rental. Gliding across the mostly glassy waters – as it were in the middle of a mountain painting – is not to be missed.

Natural bathing lake Umhausen

Relaxation and bathing fun for the whole family

Supplied by pure spring water, the natural bathing lake Umhausen combines an ecological character, such as delimited zones with aquatic plants, with the amenities of a leisure facility. The parent-child area with playground is particularly family-friendly. A play platform in the water with slide and diving platform as well as beach volleyball, tennis and table tennis offer sporting activities and fun for young and old. Extensive lying areas ensure relaxation and a pleasant atmosphere.

Nearby – at the starting point of the “Waalweg” towards Stuibenfall- there is also a free Kneipp facility with foot and arm pools, a drinking fountain and a herbal snail. The life spirits at the natural bathing lake Umhausen are always enlivened.

Umhausen Badesee

Aqua Dome

The sauna world “Gletscherglühen” and the spa oasis “Morgentau” open up unimagined wellness delights.

Aqua Dome Längenfeld

This is how alpine thermal spa enjoyment feels

Winter as summer – Thermal dream with a view of the peaks: In the middle of the Ötztal Alps, an exciting water world delights its guests. The Aqua Dome – Tirol Therme Längenfeld offers a unique combination of bathing fun, sports, spa and health on almost 50,000 square metres.

The experience of the unexperienced: the futuristic architecture of the Aqua Dome alone stages the theme of water in a completely new form. Three circular bowl pools seem to float in front of the glass crystal of the “Thermendom Ursprung” – surrounded by two river courses in the open-air “Talfrische” area.

Children will find an enclosed bathing area in the “Alpen Arche Noah” with a giant slide, play area, climbing wall and children’s restaurant.
